Dog Boarding in Peekskill, NY - Cage-Free, Home-Based Care
Looking for trusted dog boarding in Peekskill, NY? At Just Happy Dogs, located just across from Depew Park in the heart of Westchester County, your furry friend isn’t a guest in a kennel – they’re a temporary member of the family. No crates, no cages, no cold concrete floors. Ever. Your dog spends their days playing with packmates, enjoying enrichment activities, and romping in our fenced-in backyard, then settles in for an evening of couch time and TV watching with their pet-guardian hosts. One of the guardians is with them through the night – every night, making sure they are comfy and secure.
We serve pet families across Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange Counties, and if you’re coming in from NYC, our pet taxi can meet you door-to-door.
Until the morning, then, when another fun day awaits, unless, of course, it’s time to pack up and await your guardian’s arrival for the return home.
You’ll be missed, our furry friend. Until the next time…

Our Dog Boarding Rates
We know that the only reason you are entrusting Fido to our care is because you can’t include them in the things you need to do and the places you need to be. While we are sad you can’t take him or her along, we are honored to be his temporary guardian. That’s why we don’t box you in to a specific drop-off or pick-up time. Rather, our rates are based on a rolling 24-hour period. For example, drop off at 10 AM, pick up by 10 AM on the departure date. And, of course, if your plans change, we are happy to accommodate that as well.
Our dog boarding rates fall into three categories:
- The Overnighter:
- Nights 1-15: $79/night

What to Bring
Sure, we have plenty of toys and fun things to do to keep your pooch occupied and comfortable in his home away from home but if your furry friend has a special toy or other item that will make him or her feel more at home, we encourage you to bring them with you when you drop off your pooch. No need to lug a heavy bed or crate or bring a food bowl. But, don’t forget, we do not crate your furry friend so we cannot be responsible for any damage to items left with him or her. Dogs will be dogs.
You’ll also need to bring enough food for their stay. For dry food, please portion your pet’s food in individual baggies per meal. For canned or any refrigerated food, please make sure your pet’s name is on the container. If your dog requires any medications, please make sure you bring that with you and that your pet’s name is clearly marked on the container.
If your dog has any allergies or special needs, please make sure you bring that to our attention during the Meet n’ Greet and note it on the application.203

We’re sure that as a pet guardian, you want to make sure your four-legged family member is in good hands. And, of course, as pet guardians ourselves, we want to make sure that your pooch is a good fit for our household so all can enjoy an harmonious stay.
That’s why we require a Meet n’ Greet for all new clients so we can all agree that the fit is doggone perfect.
Meet n’ Greets take about a half hour and are held off-site so as not to disturb our pack and our dog guests.
For our new guests, Meet n’ Greets are scheduled after you make a boarding request. Once it’s out of the way, you’ll have the ability to schedule a stay if something comes up last minute. It’s a great way for all us to begin to get to know each other
Please click the link below to be taken to our scheduling partner, Doggie Dashboard, to book boarding. You’ll need to have your pet’s vaccination records and vet-signed rabies certificate to complete the application.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Boarding in Peekskill, NY
Q: Is your dog boarding cage-free and crate-free?
A: Yes, completely. At Just Happy Dogs, your dog is never crated, caged, or kenneled, not during the day, not at night, not ever. They sleep in our home, on the furniture, just like they do at yours.
Q: How much does dog boarding cost in Peekskill, NY?
A: Our boarding rates start at $79/night for the first 15 nights, with discounts for longer stays. Weekend specials, multi-pet discounts, and first responder/military discounts are also available. View our full rate schedule on this page.
Q: Do you board all dog breeds?
A: We welcome all breeds, as long as your dog is people-friendly and can be around other dogs comfortably. We accept a maximum of 4 dogs at a time, so every guest gets genuine attention, not a quick glance from across a crowded room.
Q: What do I need to bring for my dog's boarding stay?
A: Bring enough food for the stay (portioned into individual meal bags), any medications clearly labeled with your dog's name, and a favorite toy or blanket if it helps them feel at home. No need to bring a bed, crate, or food bowl.
Q: What vaccinations are required?
A: We take vaccinations very seriously to ensure the health and safety of our own dogs and our dog guests. Vaccinations must be administered by a licensed veterinarian 14 days before you can schedule service with us. This includes the Meet n’ Greet.
- DPP (Distemper, Parvovirus & Parainfluenza): 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required.
- Rabies: 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required. The uploaded rabies certificate should also include the rabies tag number and be signed by a veterinarian as required by NYS law.
- Bordetella: Required every 12 months (or as required under the applicable law of your jurisdiction or residence). Please note that many veterinarians administer this vaccine only by request.
- Canine Influenza: Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Canine Influenza respiratory illness.
- Leptospirosis: Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Leptospirosis infection.
- Negative Fecal Exam
- Fleas & Ticks: All pets should be flea and tick free and should be using a flee and tick preventative. Sorry, but we will not be able to admit pets that show evidence of fleas or ticks.
Q: Is a Meet & Greet required before boarding?
A: Yes, and we think you'll be glad we do it. All new clients complete a brief off-site Meet & Greet before their first stay so we can make sure the fit is right for your dog, our pack, and our home. Once it's done, last-minute bookings are easy.
