Pet Drop-In Visits in Peekskill, NY - In-Home Care While You're Away

Need someone to check in on your dog or cat while you’re out? Just Happy Dogs offers pet drop-in visits throughout Peekskill, NY, and Westchester and Putnam Counties – a trusted, GPS-tracked visit to your home where your pet gets fed, played with, and loved, right in the environment they know best.

Drop-in visits are ideal for pets who do well at home but need a midday check-in, multi-pet households where boarding isn’t practical, dogs that aren’t fully vaccinated yet against kennel cough (canine influenza and bordetella), or any time something comes up last minute and boarding just isn’t an option. Every visit ends with a photo sent directly to you – because we know you’re going to want to see their face.

There are advantages to keeping your pet in its home while you are away, especially if your pet can be left alone without becoming destructive or, for dogs, barking constantly. For these pets, the Just Happy Dogs In-home visit may be the right choice. It means your pet can stay in the environment he/she is familiar with and around the sights and smells to which they have become accustomed.

The other reasons you might consider the in-home visit over boarding are that you have a multi-pet household or your dog has not been fully vaccinated against kennel cough (canine influenza and bordetella). Almost all boarding facilities, including ours, require these vaccinations for the safety of all dogs. If something has come up last minute for you, boarding your dog may just not be possible.

The only downside to the in-home visit is the loneliness factor as one or two in-home visits a day don’t equal the amount of time a pet is around his or her pet guardian.

At Just Happy Dogs, our philosophy is to fill that half hour or hour with as much fun as possible. Our drop-in visits are geared to giving your furry friend the playtime and companionship they need, in addition to care, feeding and a potty break.

Our in-home visits cover all domesticated animals. If it’s your pet, we’ll take care of it in your absence. The emphasis here is on companionship and playtime (for dogs and cats mostly). It’s not just feed, walk, and finish. The half-hour in-home visit is enough time in most cases but we do recommend at least twice a day.

We are well aware that being to trust a stranger in your house is just as important as the care they give to your beloved pet(s). You can rest assured that your sitter has been checked and re-checked, is thoroughly interviewed, has loads of experience in taking care of pets, and is bonded and insured. Your sitter’s visits are always GPS tracked. We would never allow someone in your home that we would not allow in our own home. Whenever possible, your sitter will join us for the Meet & Greet so you can put a face to the name. Sitters are also subject to unannounced spot visits by management.

If your sitter has any questions for you during the visit, our app includes a chat feature so communication is instantaneous. All this so your pet can enjoy every minute of the visit. If feeding is on the agenda, we’ll take care of that before the walk and make sure your pet has a full bowl of fresh, clean water before we leave. And just before we lock up and turn out the lights, we’ll take a picture of your pet to send to you.

We’re sure that as a pet guardian, you want to make sure your four-legged family member is in good hands. And, of course, as pet guardians ourselves, we want to make sure that your pooch is a good fit for our household so all can enjoy an harmonious stay.

That’s why we require a Meet n’ Greet so we can all agree that the fit is doggone perfect.

Please click the link below to provide your name and email address. You will receive an email from our scheduling partner, Pet Pocketbook, to register with us. Please fill out all sections of the application. The whole process should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. We will ask you to upload proof of vaccinations later through the messaging system or have it available at the Meet n’ Greet.

Drop-In Visit FAQs

  • What is a pet drop-in visit and how is it different from pet sitting?

A drop-in visit is a shorter, scheduled check-in at your home - either 30 minutes or one hour - where your sitter feeds, walks, plays with, and spends quality time with your pet. Pet sitting is a much longer continuous stay (5 or 11 hours). Drop-ins are perfect for pets who do fine at home but need company, a potty break, and a meal while you're out for the day or evening.

  • How much does a pet drop-in visit cost in Peekskill, NY?

Our Standard Visit (30 minutes) is $35. The Long Drop-In (one hour) is $63. Add-ons are available for extended time, off-hours visits, puppies and kittens, and holidays. First responders and military personnel receive a 5% discount.

  • What does the drop-in visit include?

Every visit includes companionship and playtime, feeding if scheduled, fresh water in all bowls, a potty break or yard time for dogs, cat litter scooping, GPS tracking so you know your sitter arrived, a record of your dog's bathroom activity, and a photo of your pet sent to you at the end of the visit.

  • Do you do drop-in visits for cats and other pets, not just dogs?

Yes - we cover all domesticated animals. Dogs, cats, and other household pets are all welcome. The focus is always on companionship and care, not just a quick feed-and-go.

  • Is a Meet & Greet required before my first drop-in visit?

Yes, and unlike our other services, the Meet & Greet for drop-in visits is held at your home - not off-site. That gives your sitter a chance to meet your pet in their own environment, learn the layout, and make sure everyone is comfortable before the first solo visit.
